Beef Genetics Mission rasises the stakes for international trade
Beef MissionOver recent years the sale of British livestock genetics to Brazil has increased greatly, with the demand for UK breeds outstripping supply. In order to showcase further breeds as well as promote the technology which goes hand in hand with the UK beef industry UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) and the British Embassy in Brazil, have arranged an inward mission, bringing a group of Brazilian veterinarians.

The mission organised by UK Agri-Food and Drink (UKAFD) and UKTI was accompanied by Nick Graham, Sector Manager for Agri-Business and & Government Relations at the British Embassy. The delegates completed a technical tour of the beef breeding and meat production supply chain commencing in Scotland and finishing in Gloucestershire.

Sheep Mission proves an eye opener for Brazilian delegates
Sheep MissionThe recent success of Brazilian sheep bred from UK genetics have caused much interest an demand for UK Sheep genetics, in particular the Texel breed which was this years’ champion at Expointer, Brazil’s premier agricultural event. In order to showcase further breeds as well as promote the technology which goes hand in hand with the UK Sheep industry UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) and the British Embassy in Brazil, have arranged an inward mission, bringing a group from Brazil ranging from breeders through to academics.

In addition to visiting farms and sheep breeders in Scotland, the mission also took a wider view of the meat supply chain; from research and farms through to retailers, with visits to a sheep research station, an abattoir, meat processor and supermarket.

France: Fresh crabmeat required by French fine food distributor
A French fine foods distributor based near Lille is currently seeking to purchase pasteurised crabmeat and crab claws from UK producers. Volumes would be 6 -7 tonnes per year (crabmeat) and 1 tonne (claws).  A long-term partnership arrangement is desired.
The company concerned sells to quality delis and caterers throughout France. Some sales are also made into Belgium and Luxemburg.

Brazil: Company interested in importing whiskey
Brazilian company is looking for Scottish distilleries interested in exporting whiskey - blended and single malt - to Brazil.  The proposal is that the Brazilian company would be responsible for importing, distributing and representing the chosen brands in the Brazilian market.
